What is TED?
TED is a global foundation devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. It started out in 1984 as a conference bringing together people from three worlds: Technology, Entertainment, Design. Since then, its scope has become ever broader.
With its annual conferences and video website TED.com, initiatives, and community projects, TED is now a platform and a global movement focused on meaningful change through the power of ideas.
What is TEDx?
In the spirit of Ideas Worth Spreading TED has created a program called TEDx, local self-organized events that bring people together to share and stimulate dialogue through a TED-like experience. At TEDx events, TEDTalks videos and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. TEDx events are fully planned and coordinated independently, on a community-by-community basis. TEDx organizers are not hosting events for political reasons, monetary reward, or personal gain. They are doing so because they truly believe in the power of ideas to change the world. TEDx events are open source, local and community-driven events that inspire innovation, thought leadership and visionary insight.
What is TEDWomen?
TEDWomen is a TED event curated by TED and Pat Mitchell that focuses on women and women’s issues. TEDxWomen events are TEDx events hosted around the live webcast of TEDWomen and also features local speakers. Our event is called TEDxCairoWomen and is one of many TEDx events happening around the globe on December 5- December 7 that will expand on the ideas brought up at TEDWomen.
What is TEDxCairoWomen?
TEDxCairoWomen is inspired by a small group of women whose dream was to create a diverse community of Egyptian women, who have faith and belief in innovation, empowerment, and strive to be active in community development.
TEDxCairoWomen aims to provide a platform mainly but not only for Egypt’s female change-makers & visionaries to share their stories and inspirations with a diverse group of thinkers and doers.
The vision of TEDxCairoWomen is to include All Egyptian Women in One Conversation,
No exclusions & No Barriers.
